Fine & Hatfield P.C.

Firm History

In 2011 Fine & Hatfield celebrated its 90th year as an active law firm representing clients across the Tri-State and the nation. As one of the oldest law firms in Evansville, we are proud of our storied past and reputation for distinguished client and community services. The firm traces its roots to a partnership forged in 1921 between Edward E. Meyer and Isadore J. Fine. Fred Bamberger joined the firm in 1935 but later left to start his own firm. In 1943, Frank Hatfield and his son, Joe Hatfield, merged with the firm, and the name changed to Hatfield, Meyer, Fine & Hatfield. Joe Hatfield was well known in the local bar for his trial experience, and both Frank Hatfield (1941) and Joe Hatfield (1971) served as president of the Indiana State Bar Association. In 1954, World War II veteran Charles Sparrenberger joined the firm, and the name was changed once again to Fine, Hatfield, Sparrenberger, & Fine. Other reputable and talented area attorneys joined the firm over the years, such as the late James Marchand. With such a long name, however, the firm officially shortened its name to Fine & Hatfield in 1985.

Fine & Hatfield offers expertise in a variety of areas of law for its clients. It is the only law firm in southern Indiana with two members in the American College of Trial Attorneys,  namely, Danny Glass and Tom Bryan.  Following in their footsteps are Todd Glass, a certified Trust and Estate Lawyer, Lin Shannon in labor, employment and litigation, David Sanders in business and transactions, Adam Glass in litigation, and Andrew Skinner in litigation.

Today, the firm’s team of attorneys specializes in advising and representing local and regional businesses and individuals. You will find our attorneys fully experienced and prepared to handle your needs in areas which include estate and trust planning, licensing, contracts, acquisitions, dispositions of businesses, collective bargaining for businesses with unions, and employment practices and discipline. The firm is also reputed for its defense of medical and other professional malpractice cases, products liability defense and insurance defense. The firm’s CEO, Danny E. Glass, encourages you to “allow our reputation developed over the years to work for and protect you and your interests.”
